Tavistock Golf Club welcomes Visitors and Members' guests alike who wish to play a natural moorland golf course.
Situated on the western slopes of the Dartmoor National Park, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we are delighted to offer a great golfing experience in a stunning natural setting.
The golf course was established in 1890 and with continual updating and maintenance to the highest standards it offers a challenging test to golfers of all abilities. Because of the excellent natural drainage the course and the greens (which are generally true and very fast) rarely close, thus allowing trolleys to be used virtually all the year round and there is no need for winter greens or tees, except in the very worst of winter and during major course maintenance.
Off the course, The Club is proud of its reputation for first class catering provided by experienced chefs and friendly staff, in a relaxed clubhouse environment.
We hope you can visit us soon and look forward to welcoming you to The Club. In the meantime, we hope that the following information is helpful and will assist you to plan a visit.
If you wish to play it is important to call the Pro Shop beforehand for advice on the available times to play. We do not operate a tee-booking system for casual golf so you will be advised a time 'window', and on the day the Pro Shop will provide more specific guidance. The tee will occasionally be blocked for Club competitions and matches, or for visiting Societies, so do check before you visit.
We ask that all players have valid handicap certificates in order to best enjoy their golf.
Due to the fragile nature of the course no golf buggies are allowed. Trollies and electric trollies can be hired, and should be reserved through the Pro Shop in advance of your visit.
We operate a smart dress code on the course and within the Clubhouse, click here to view the dress code (we recommend you do this before the day).
All visitors and guests should report to the Pro Shop on arrival and pay their green fees prior to play.
Visitors and guests play from the tee of the day.
Tavistock Golf Club encourages the adoption of ‘ready golf', meaning play your ball when ready as long as it does not impede any of your playing partners. A round of golf at Tavistock should typically take 3 hours 30 mins.
Tavistock Golf Club is situated on public access common land within the Dartmoor National Park. The course is criss-crossed with many right of ways, bridleways and footpaths; we ask all golfers to be vigilant of, and courteous towards other users of this space, both two and four-legged.
